All devices leave Dickson reading within their stated accuracy specifications. The need to purchase a calibration is often driven by regulatory or compliance needs.
When you purchase a calibration, you’re receiving proof that your device was calibrated and calibrated against a NIST and/or A2LA standard. These documents are often required to prove to auditors that devices are reading correctly.
Follow Standard Precautions when handling and decontaminating Dickson products and components that are suspected or confirmed for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Standard Precautions include hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as laboratory coats or gowns, gloves, and eye protection. Isopropyl Alcohol at 70-90% can be used for surface disinfection of Dickson products following the procedures and precautions below.
We do not recommend the application of disinfectants to surfaces via spraying to avoid contamination of the internal sensor. If disinfectants are to be applied, these should be via a cloth or wipe which is soaked in the disinfectant. All disinfectant solutions should be stored in opaque containers, in a well-ventilated, covered area that is not exposed to direct sunlight and ideally should be freshly prepared every day. Please follow Dickson’s recommendations for disinfecting data loggers, chart recorders, and sensor instruments:
- Dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol at 70-90%. Do not allow excess isopropyl alcohol to drip off the cloth.
- Turn off and unplug the data logger from AC power.
- Remove the sensor from the data logger, e.g. DWE, Touchscreen, etc. Quickly wipe the exterior of the sensor case with the cloth. Do not allow the isopropyl alcohol to drip into the vents of the sensor. Allow to air dry (<1 minute).
- Place the disinfected sensor in a clean, plastic bag.
- Proceed to wipe the exterior case of the data logger. Do not allow excess isopropyl alcohol to drip inside the data logger and avoid directly wiping power connections, ethernet jacks, and USB connectors.
- Ensure you don’t allow any liquid to get into the grille or vent openings of the logger. Also avoid excessively wiping the bar code/Serial Number label or it will smear.
- Allow the data logger to air dry before reconnecting the unit to AC power.
- Reinsert the sensor into the data logger. Note: if your data logger is a DicksonOne device, you may receive non-reporting or probe disconnect alarms in your DicksonOne account when the logger is off.
For new orders, most ship within 3-5 business days. For re-calibrations, orders are processed in ~1 week from the time the device is received at Dickson.
